NSS 2012 booth setup

Friday, May 25th, 2012

I’ve been preparing for the National Stationery Show since last fall and it finally happened earlier this week. All of the hard work and meltdowns were paid off by the most wonderfully awesome week, surrounded by stationery and paper lovers, yes it was heaven. I was lucky enough to share a booth with ten other members of the Ladies of Letterpress community. Having a small section in their booth, in comparison to having an entire booth to myself, made the preparation a lot easier. And when I say easier, I don’t mean easy, you still have to work your freakin butt off. But it was SO worth it; new friends, new shops and great press all of which are priceless. Here are a few shots from the booth setup.

Oh and did you see that some of my cards were featured on Design Sponge? I’m still jumping with joy over that.

And a lovely post from Oh So Beautiful Paper, which features pictures from all the Ladies of Letterpress booths.

The Washington Ballet’s Alice (in Wonderland)

Beautifully mysterious imagery for The Washington Ballet by Design Army. Those costumes and the styling are just fantastic.  I’m pretty upset that I missed this ballet.

Pearl’s first run

Monday, April 16th, 2012

Things have been a bit quiet here on fancy seeing you here lately. The reason for this is prepping for the National Stationery Show which has me in such a tizzy. It seems like everything is coming together nicely though, even if my to do list is endless! This past weekend I printed with my press Pearl for the first time. It took a bit of troubleshooting to figure everything out, but by the end she was printing beautifully. I’m so excited to finally have her up and running. A special thanks goes out to Baltimore Print Studios and John Falstrom for the technical support while I was setting her up.

In case you are attending NSS I’ll be in booth #2274 with the Ladies of Letterpress.

inspector stamp

Monday, February 6th, 2012

I spotted these Inspector Stamps by Mikey Burton on pinterest and think it’s a fresh take on the business card. “With this stamp, you are able to print your condensed snippet of info onto any substrate—a beer mat, someone else’s business card, a napkin, or even someone’s hand. After all, people are more likely to lose a business card in a drunken stupor, but less likely to lose their hand.” How handy is that? Order one for yourself from Cranky Pressman.

fashion friday: gorman

Loving the bright mix matched patterns from Gorman, seems like a great way to transition from winter to spring! via raneytown

Happy weekend everyone! Hope you have some wonderful plans. I’m looking forward to this Sunday for a few reasons. First, I’m playing soccer for the first time in over a year, it’s probably going to be a beautiful disaster but either way I’m pretty stoked. Secondly, it’s Super Bowl Sunday which means awesome commercials and PUPPY BOWL! For the record, the puppies seem to be extra extra adorable this year. As far as super bowl commercials I’ve only seen one so far, The Dog Strikes Back by Volkswagen which is pretty cute, mostly because it involves an adorable dog, (can you see the pattern here?) Needless to say it made me excited for all 2012 Super Bowl ads. Enjoy your weekend!

impossible is…

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

“Impossible is just a small word that is thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they’ve been given to explore the power they have, to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It is an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It is a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!”

the fox with the golden fur

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

First of all, I had no idea what to call this post, but its such a lovely package design that I had to post it! I love all of the details in the piece; the paper cutting, the beautiful illustrations, the layering, the simple box design and the ornate page design. Such an imaginative piece! by Ultra Creative via French Paper Sample Room

new year, new goals

Monday, January 30th, 2012

I know this post is a bit late, a whole month to be exact but I’ve been trying to regroup this month, decide on my goals for the year, brainstorm on new products,  clean / simplify my house and business stuff like taxes. I thought that I’d share some of my goals for the year as well as some big events from 2011, which will be hard, because it was a great year! Twenty eleven brought me my best craft year yet, a new to me letterpress, my cards in two retail shops (!!!), two trips to Paris and a trip to Harry Potter world, and an entire year of working for myself. It really was a wonderful year and looking I’m looking forward to the great things that 2012 will bring. Without further ado here are some of my 2012 goals; continue creating new products and updating my shop, kick ass at the National Stationery Show (yep I’m showing there as part of the Ladies of Letterpress booth), get my new letterpress in working order (this is tippity top of the list),  participate in more craft shows, redesign fancy seeing you here, get my cards in more retail shops and attend Alt Summit in 2013 (so sad that I couldn’t go this year.) I know it’s a lot but it can and will be done.

happy belated new year to everyone! hope you have some exciting and challenging goals for this year!

make my feet go

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

My good friend and fellow art director Christian Williams will be running the Boston Marathon on April 16 for the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC). I’ve known Christian for about 6+ years and therefore I know this is a HUGE challenge for him, (he practically hates running.) BUT I also know that he is very determined, which means he will succeed even if he’s crawling across the finish line. Using his art director skills he created a great little campaign/site for his journey. And he’s challenging all of us to donate at least five dollars. “Five dollars. It’s not a lot to part with. We spend almost that much a day on coffee. Five dollars may not seem like a lot. But, if enough people contribute…five dollars will add up quickly. In addition to knowing that you’ve contributed to one of the nations leading cancer institutes I’ll also go ahead and send you one of the buttons shown below. Please do you part and spread the word. Together We Can.”

Please donate if you can and spread the word because every bit helps. For more information about the marathon and Christian’s running journey check out his site Make My Feet Go.
