crafty bastards tomorrow

Friday, September 30th, 2011

Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair is tomorrow from 10–5 at the Marie Reed Learning Center at 18th & Wyoming in Adams Morgan. I will be volunteering at the Pyramid Atlantic booth 90 / 91 from 10–noon doing a letterpress demo. Some of my letterpress friends will be selling their awesome goods at booth 123, (and some of mine too!) Hope you all can stop by the fair and buy some crafty stuff!

Have a great weekend!

Cheery and rad 3-d wall artwork in Hamburg, Germany. Such an appropriate message because my last couple of days have been truly awesome! More details about the wall art here.

liam brazier illustrations

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Really blown away by these geometric illustrations by Liam Brazier. I’m kind of a sucker for the geometric look right now, (isn’t everyone?) but these seem more unique and take the geo style to the next level.

type tuesday: seb lester

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

I’ve been a long time fan of Seb Lester‘s gorgeous lettering. Here are a few of my favorites from him. I especially love the Van Gogh stars print; how genius is he to make the lettering out of stars! And of course I adore the Home Sweet Home print (since I have one and it’s hanging in my bedroom.) View all of his work here.

type tuesday: Linus Dean rugs

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

I’m drooling over these graphic rugs featuring vintage typography from Linus Dean. “Working with craftspeople in Tibet and Nepal, Linus has moved his innovative designs to plush three-dimensional form. The high-quality silk and wool rugs are designed in Sydney and handmade in Nepal, yielding an ideal blend of contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship.” I can’t decide between the Barcelona or Paris one.

Gorgeous traditional, yet modern branding for Nonna Lina ice cream by Mr. Conde Studio. I especially love seeing his process pictures; sketches, wireframes and color scheme inspiration.

my new press

Monday, September 12th, 2011

Meet Pearl, my new letterpress! She’s a Golding Pearl No. 11 Improved 7×11 press. Isn’t she a beauty? I purchased her from the lovely Sarah of Haute Papier. Yesterday was spent moving her from Georgetown to her new home in Bethesda, right next to my record player. (It is so stressful moving a letterpress!) I have to get a few more supplies before I can get started printing with her, but I can’t wait!

scenes from the weekend: nyc in 24 hours

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

I went to NYC Saturday morning to meet up with my bestie Christine, aka ZonaFoto. It was a whirlwind of a trip to say the least. We may or may not have been ill-prepared with no hotel reservations. (Not recommended on a holiday weekend!) Therefore we wasted a few hours just trying to find a hotel, only to discover that all the hotels were booked. But I like to say that was just part of the adventure. All worked out in the end, we stayed with one Christine’s old friends and he showed us a fabulous time in Brooklyn. I just wish we could’ve stayed a few days longer. Here’s a few snaps from the trip, taken with a Fuji Instax Mini.
