This weekend in honor of my birthday, (which happens to be today,) I attended The Legwarmers show in Falls Church, VA. The Legwarmers are an amazing 80s cover band that will leave you hoarse from singing the words to every single song. This is about my 5th Legwarmers show which means I take my outfit very seriously. My theme for this show was a “material girl” look complete with crimped hair, lots of pearl necklaces, a jean jacket embroidered “wild at heart,” pink leggings, checkered vans and of course, legwarmers. (That’s me in the top right polaroid.) I had recently acquired my parents’ old polaroid camera and used it to capture our outfits for the night. The night was a blast and I can’t wait till the next show. I strongly, strongly suggest that you see The Legwarmers if you haven’t yet—it’s sure to leave you singing those 80s classics for weeks to follow.

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010trash or treasure
Monday, April 19th, 2010Every year a very fancy neighborhood in Chevy Chase, MD has a “trash or treasure” weekend where residents can do a little spring cleaning to get rid of the items they no longer need or want and the town offers a bulk trash pickup. Since I found out about this event I’ve made sure to make my rounds each year to see what treasures I can find. It seems that this year the event was a little more well known by outsiders which was a little discouraging. But I was able to come away with one treasure for the weekend—this cute little turquoise ottoman which is in really good condition; just needed a little cleaning to whip it into shape. I love the color and mid-century modern style of this piece—yay for free furniture!
whirlwind
Friday, April 16th, 2010Sorry I’ve been absent for the past few day—it’s been a whirlwind of a week for me to say the least. In the meantime check out Zona Foto‘s most recent shoot here and here. I love the dreamy, whimsical and retro quality of these pictures. The two above are my favorite from the series, but really I love them all.
Have a great weekend!

society 6
Monday, April 12th, 2010I just discovered society 6 through the artist Yellow Bird Machine. (She has some of her artwork available for purchase on society 6.) Similiar to 20 x 200 and tiny showcase, society 6 offers affordable artwork to the masses. In addition it works as a collaborative community for artists to promote and share their artwork. There’s lots of amazing artwork on the site—great for inspiration and beautifying your walls.

chicks & bikes
Friday, April 9th, 2010How cute are these girls on their bikes??? Especially Twiggy pictured on the right. Swoon, she’s one of my favorite style icons. Chicks and Bikes is one the best blogs to find great photos of women and their bikes. This reminds me that I need to be on the lookout for the three-wheeled bike that I am dying to own!

spring
Wednesday, April 7th, 2010Spring is one of my favorite seasons with all the flowers blooming and the birds chirping. BUT it’s a love hate relationship because my allergies get the best of me. With that said I am staying home today to rest up and hopefully beat these stupid allergies!

tiny home office
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010This image above is proof that you can make the best out of the space that you have. Currently I am lucky enough to a whole room devoted to my crafts but it’s definitely not as beautiful as this little office. One of the my goals for the summer is to reorganize my craft room to make it chic and completely functional. Here is a great resource from ReadyMade to help you make the most out of your space.
