scenes from the weekend: nyc in 24 hours

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

I went to NYC Saturday morning to meet up with my bestie Christine, aka ZonaFoto. It was a whirlwind of a trip to say the least. We may or may not have been ill-prepared with no hotel reservations. (Not recommended on a holiday weekend!) Therefore we wasted a few hours just trying to find a hotel, only to discover that all the hotels were booked. But I like to say that was just part of the adventure. All worked out in the end, we stayed with one Christine’s old friends and he showed us a fabulous time in Brooklyn. I just wish we could’ve stayed a few days longer. Here’s a few snaps from the trip, taken with a Fuji Instax Mini.

I had the most wonderful long weekend visiting my good friend ZonaFoto in New York and New Jersey. The weekend started off on Friday with a full day in NYC—Soho shopping, The Impossible Project store and a breathtaking performance by the Sa Dance Company. On Saturday we took a trip to the Jersey shore, Seaside Heights to be exact. It was a lot bright colors, cheesy games, vintage signage, fried food and stuffed animals, no snooki sightings though. On the last day we headed back into the city for a visit to the Lomo store and a couple visits to Kid Robot. All in all, a fantastic, busy, tiring and inspiring weekend…sigh, now back to reality.

Sorry I’ve been absent for the past few day—it’s been a whirlwind of a week for me to say the least. In the meantime check out  Zona Foto‘s most recent shoot here and here. I love the dreamy, whimsical and retro quality of these pictures. The two above are my favorite from the series, but really I love them all.

Have a great weekend!

This past week I went to visit my bff and super talented photographer extraordinaire Christine who lives in San Francisco. This was my first visit to San Fran and let me tell you, I fell in love, real hard. It was just as amazing as everyone says it is, plus more. It was extremely walkable, super artsy and full of great inspiration from old signage, fabulous architecture, wacky costume shops, lots of photo booths, sea lions, magnificent bridges, really crooked streets and the freshest food. sigh…i already miss you San Fran. To my viewers, please bear with me, the next few posts are going to be some of the highlights from my trip.
