before and after: tv stand

This is a revamp of one of the pieces that I picked up at this year’s trash or treasure, (which was last weekend.) I’ve been looking for a new tv stand for quite some time now for my living room and haven’t had much luck. The CB2 one (here is the green version) that I had originally thought would look nice in the space was sold out before I got the chance to purchase it and now they don’t carry it in white anymore. So at trash or treasure I set out looking for something that would work as a tv stand or be converted to a tv stand. Luckily I found a low bureau that I thought could be updated nicely.

before:

This bureau was a little too tall as is to be used for a tv stand. So me and my dad eliminated one layer of drawers to make it the perfect height. The top two drawers were then removed to make a place for my vcr and satellite box I got at tvaerialsmanchester.com. (These drawers can be added back in the future if I decide to use this piece as something besides a tv stand.)

after:

I couldn’t be happier with the results. I think it looks really nice, fits the space, holds my electronics and best of all—it was free! All I need to do now is update the hardware…I’m thinking these beauties from Anthropologie in Palace Yell0w will be perfect finish to the piece.

derringer friday

Derringer Friday is a duo of local independent designers creating rad ties and pocket squares in brightly-colored plaids, seersucker and madras. I absolutely love the combination of this last one pictured, the red cotton seersucka.

fancy birthday cards

In conjunction with Pyramid’s 30′s Birthday Open House celebration on April 9, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center will be selling sets of letterpress birthday cards designed and printed by various members of our PA letterpress community. That’s my design above! All proceeds from the sales will go to fund Pyramid’s awesome programs and facilities! You can find pictures and links to some of the other cards here.

I printed some extra and will add those to my shop this weekend!

vintage eyeglasses

One of my gee whiskers cards was featured in this treasury on etsy alongside these gorgeous Vintage 50s Sapphire Blue Cat Eye Glasses. And there are even more gorgeous and unique pairs in the Vintage5osEyewear etsy shop including some men’s options too. I’m eyeing this pair, but hesitant to buy glasses via the web. Glasses are more of a try before you buy item. The shop does provide dimensions of the glasses, so I might just photoshop a few pairs on my face to see if they look good—that’s trying right?

Aled Lewis – Make Something 365

There are a lot of designers out there doing the ‘make something everyday’ thing. Unlike most however, Aled appears to be doing it well. These definitely got a chuckle out of me.

Bed from reclaimed 100 year old pine

I’m a huge fan of using reclaimed lumber so it should come as no surprise that I’m an even bigger fan of this DIY bed project created by Jason Ackerman of Imagine This Design Group.
