This is a small selection of images from a silly project i’ve been doing at work; The Sarah Project. Every day at around 3 i have a mini photoshoot at my desk using props and stuff that i’ve gathered from around the office. I’m hoping to keep this up for a year and maybe even start a website for it. It’s actually quite amusing and fun, although some might think I’m a total nut. I think one of my favorite and most innovative uses of a prop is the poster tube turned into a peg arm for my pirate series. FYI, I’m taking character requests if you have any suggestions.

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010Views of the Bungalow Hotel which is the latest design project by 9 by design. It has some of their signature touches; commissioned pieces by Ann Carrington and those beautiful type light boxes. I love the way everything came together! View more pictures here.
Season finale of 9 by design is on tonight at 10/9c.

ugmonk
Wednesday, May 26th, 2010This weekend I visited a new store opening, Ugmonk. They offer simple, well-designed cotton t-shirts, and they display them in the most shocking t-shirt shop display you have never seen! I love their loose fitting cut and care-free designs, I think 7 days a week is my favorite because that 7 is just beautiful, I could really wear that shirt anywhere. And I wish I was wearing the No shirt today…it’s just one of those days.

flip flop
Tuesday, May 25th, 2010Just had to share the most comfortable flip flop EVER; Sanuk’s yoga mat sandal. I discovered these in Key West and have since bought an additional pair! And don’t worry they have a men’s version, the beer cozy sandal.

weekend thrifting
Monday, May 24th, 2010On Saturday I spent the first part of the day thrifting with my friend Alison. We started in Georgetown with visits to Annie Creamcheese and Second Time Around. In Annie Creamcheese there was some really unique jewelry by Monserat de Lucca (Some of our favorites shown above: Western Bracelet, Pac Man Earrings, Measuring Tape Ring.) Our final stop for the day was Unique Thrift Store in Falls Church, VA where we found these fabulous steel chairs for $10 a piece (sorry for the bad phone picture). They are actually more comfortable than you would think AND in great condition. I can’t wait to make some cute cushions for them. I’m disappointed that I wasn’t able to find a suitcase for the vintage suitcase cat bed that I want to make…I guess that will have to wait til next time.
world cup
Friday, May 21st, 2010Write The Future from Nalden on Vimeo.
I just had to share this amazing Nike World Cup soccer promo done by Wieden+Kennedy. Watching this video got me soooo utterly excited for the World Cup which happens to be only 20 days 22 hours away (but whos counting.)
My agenda for the weekend: Thrifting for a vintage suitcase to make this super chic cat bed. I’m sure to find plenty more goodies while I’m out—I’ll be sure to share on Monday.
Hope you all have a fabulous and craft-filled weekend!
a fine frenzy
Tuesday, May 18th, 2010I’m obsessed with A Fine Frenzy’s album Bomb in a Birdcage. Favorite song so far: Electric Twist. Besides being completely adorable (talk about major girl crush) the lead singer, Alison Sudol, has a dreamy, beautiful voice that truly shines in this fun and whimsical album. I first discovered A Fine Frenzy through an amazing stop motion video that featured Alison (view it here) posted on the Mint design blog.

The blog covers daily trends, new products and inspiration like Pantone’s Fall 2010 Fashion color report shown below (complete article here.) I’m in love with Lagoon, Woodbine and Oyster Gray. Definitely check out their site and blog for all your colour needs.
