color chips

Monday, September 27th, 2010

I love this campaign for Sherwin Williams by Durham, NC agency McKinney. The four print ads feature original color-chip sculptures created by Matthew Sporzynski—my favorite being the ice cream sundae. The tv spots were directed and produced by Buck NY. They use 3D animation to create a beautiful and dynamic color chip world, really showing off Sherwin Williams’ extensive color choices. Both print and tv solidly support the headline “Make the most of your color with the very best paint.”

See the complete campaign here.

Matthew Sporzynksi is also the man behind the beautiful Real Simple Paper Constructions.

the dc | baltimore egotist

Friday, September 24th, 2010

In their words: The D.C. | Baltimore Egotist is the brand-spankin’ new place to celebrate great creative from local agencies, artists, and thinkers. It’s like the internet’s throwing a party for you – only there’s no cake and no one’s going to puke behind your couch.

It’s a great design resource and frankly DC is definitely lacking in design resources if you ask me. Reasons you should check it out; it has a job board, you can showcase your portfolio, find local talent,  show off creative and get daily inspiration.

Check the site out here. And follow them on twitter here.

Get noticed with reflective lace from Lost Values—how adorable are the embroidered bicycles especially on the bloomer shorts!

Check out all of their reflective products; my favorite is the super stylish reflective scarf (shown above.) I’m thinking these will be great Xmas gifts for my biking friends.

Beautiful infographics posters by Pop Chart Lab—a collaboration between a book editor and a graphic designer that seek to put the world in charts. Looking forward to their next chart creations.

AND I’m pretty sure I need to own the Grand Taxonomy of Rap Names.

I’ve been eyeing this Poketo bag from Target. I just love the bright colors and simple, geometric pattern. I decided to check out the Poketo website to see all their products and it’s pure eye candy. Here are some of my favorites:

the movie title stills collection

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

The Movie Title Stills Collections is a collection of screenshots of movie titles from feature films over the years—a fabulous resource for type inspiration. And while we are on the movie titles subject, another one of my favorites websites/resources is Art of the Title Sequence, which displays videos and stills of title design from tv and film. Literally hours of inspiration.

the happiness project

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

I just finished reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and loved every single page of it. The book documents Gretchen’s year long experiment to change her life without really changing it. Written with charm and wit, it was very easy to relate to Gretchen’s journey of changing little things to increase her happiness and therefore focusing on the things that really matter. My favorite quote from the book “Flawed can be more perfect than perfection.”

I’m probably not going to start my own happiness project but I have been inspired to make lots of little changes in my life. Hope it can inspire you too!

Buy the book here.

Check out the The Happiness Project blog for help on starting your own Happiness Project.
